About 10% of our population has gallstones and most don’t suffer with any symptoms and require no treatment. One to two percent of those with symptoms require treatment and the removal of the gallbladder. Gallstones that go untreated can lead to a blockage of a bile duct causing abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting.
